The Village of Union Grove, Wisconsin (pop. 5,000), is seeking applicants for Seasonal Laborer positions within the Public Works Department (Streets & Parks) and Water & Sewer Utility.

Position Overview:

Seasonal Laborers will assist with general maintenance tasks, with a primary focus on mowing and grounds maintenance across Village properties. Duties will vary depending on the assigned department:

  • Public Works (Streets & Parks):
    • Mowing and trimming grass in parks, along streets, and on other Village-owned properties
    • Lawn care and landscaping, including weed control and mulching
    • Brush pickup and disposal
    • Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities
    • Painting, general repairs, and assisting with street maintenance as needed
  • Water & Sewer Utility:
    • Mowing and trimming around water and sewer utility facilities, lift stations, and wells
    • General facility upkeep and cleaning
    • Hydrant painting and valve maintenance
    • Assisting with routine maintenance of the Village’s water distribution and sewer collection systems
    • Other tasks as assigned by the Utility Department

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 16 years old
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License (required to operate Village vehicles such as utility vans, pickup trucks, or a single-axle 1-ton truck)
  • Ability to operate various Village equipment, including:
    • Zero-turn riding lawn mower
    • Push mowers and weed trimmers
    • Garden tractor
    • Brush chipper

Work Hours & Schedule:

  • Regular schedule: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch from 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM)
  • Work hours may vary depending on weather conditions and department needs

Compensation:

  • $14.00 per hour
  • Up to 40 hours per week
