The Village of Union Grove is excited to announce the expansion of its recreation programming with two new martial arts classes through Narrowpath Martial Arts. At its January 27th meeting, the Village Board approved the addition of Intro to Karate (ages 4-7) and Tai Chi (ages 13+), offering more opportunities for residents to engage in fitness and personal development.
New Class Offerings
Intro to Karate (Ages 4-7)
Mondays & Thursdays | 4:15 - 4:45 PM
This beginner-level class introduces young students to the fundamentals of martial arts in a fun and supportive environment. Without belts or uniforms, kids will focus on balance, basic kicks, and punches while learning important values like respect and discipline. This is a great way to build confidence, coordination, and a strong foundation for future martial arts training.
Tai Chi (Ages 13+)
Mondays & Thursdays | 8:00 - 8:45 AM
Tai Chi is a gentle, flowing martial art often described as "meditation in motion." This class focuses on slow, deliberate movements, deep breathing, and mindfulness to improve balance, flexibility, and overall well-being. Suitable for all ability levels, Tai Chi is a great way to reduce stress and enhance mental clarity.
These classes will follow the same structure as other Narrowpath Martial Arts programs—no pre-registration, no membership requirements, and pay-as-you-go for $12 per class.
These new classes will begin the week of March 10th.
We’re excited to continue growing this partnership and offering new recreational opportunities for our residents.
